Amaranth Fine Art Studio
Goals / Payment / Guidelines for 3-4 Day Seminars
Welcome to china painting in my home studio! I hope you find it as inspirational, warm and relaxing to paint in as I do. By teaching classes in a seminar format I can provide focused & specific instruction that will benefit everyone in the class at the same time. I will instruct by presentation, practice, application and guidance throughout the project. While each student refines these techniques they will be working toward their goal of completing a beautiful presentation piece as well as gaining knowledge applicable to all aspects of china painting.
China painting is a unique art form that deserves the devotion of time and skill it requires to do it well. It takes time and practice for an individual to feel comfortable, as with anything we are learning. This is why the longer class periods are important. The classes I offer are structured for the intermediate level china painter. All that is required is that you own your tools and supplies and have experience with the application of china paints on pieces that have been fired. Intermediate is not limited to how accomplished you are. It’s your experience with the medium and how familiar you are with it that is important to me as your instructor. And if you are somewhat new at this, it’s important for you to paint with others that have more experience, so you may learn…
Payment for a class session can be made by check, Visa or MasterCard. A 50% deposit is required to hold your seat and payment in full is due at the time of class session. The deposit is non-refundable if you miss the session. If you have paid in full and miss the session, then 50% can be applied to another session. There will be opportunities to work on another piece of china once you have completed the project for the day.
Minimum enrollment in a seminar session is 5 and maximum is 10.
My studio has an outside entry on the right side of the house. There are 10 stairs you must come down to enter the studio. Please minimize what you bring to class, keeping in mind the stairs. Bring paper towels. We will discuss and mix the necessary paints on the first class. You may call beforehand for information. If there is anything special used in the project, I will have it on hand to purchase. I prefer to paint on the piece of china I have selected for the project, but if you already have a piece and I approve it suitable for the project before purchasing your piece for the class, you may paint on it. I will be ordering china for the project 3 weeks in advance. It is important for you to sign up as early as possible for me to order your piece. But don’t hesitate to come take a class if it’s a week prior. Please call and see if I have something suitable in the studio for the project.
We will take a 30 minute break for lunch during the days of the seminar. You may bring food or a light lunch will be served. Weather permitting, we can sit outside on the deck or by the pond. Coffee and tea is available. Bring bottled water if you prefer.
